An Inland - Open Water Lifeguard is a person who will be regularly assigned to protect life and safety at a non-surf, still water beach, such as a lake or river, throughout Australia a Open Water 

Open Water Lifeguards require the same competencies as a Pool Lifeguard; however they must complete an increased fitness assessment along with training in Inflatable Rescue Boat operations and carrying out rescue’s utilising rescue boards. 

Lifeguarding Services Australia provides open water lifeguards to schools and special community events such as open water swimming, rowing, sailing and triathlons.
