Lifeguarding Services Australia is part of the world’s largest Professional Lifeguard Service, providing lifeguards and aquatic safety training to community groups, sporting events and local councils both nationally & internationally through our partner agencies.

Lifeguarding Services Australia maintains the highest standards in staff training and qualifications, currently NSW is leading the way with higher more advanced qualifications required for all lifeguards.

These qualifications are aligned to national competencies out of the public safety, sport & recreation and health training packages. Each of these competencies must be delivered by a Registered Training Organisation and are included in the NSW Practice Note 15 (Water Safety)

Throughout the world their exists three different types of lifeguard qualifications, each lifeguard is specifically trained to supervise and respond to incidents and potential life threatening emergencies in the unique environment that they work in, the three lifeguard qualifications are:

Pool/Lagoon Lifeguard
Open Water Lifeguard
Surf Lifeguard

We operate a range of specific water safety and rescue including lifeguard trucks, all terrain vehicles, Inflatable Rescue Boats, Rescue Watercraft and a range of specialty underwater and helicopter recovery equipment.

Lifeguard Proficiency Testing
The role of a lifeguard is challenging and each location and environment presents new and unique situations for the lifeguard to overcome. As part of our quality management over lifeguards all Lifeguarding Services Australia lifeguards must attend quarterly “in-service” training.
The purpose of this training is to ensure fitness, rescue and medical skills are kept at the highest standards as possible,

Lifeguards are normally the first on the scene at the beach, pool or aquatic related accidents. That is why all Lifeguarding Services Australia permanent lifeguards are trained to the minimum advanced clinical level of Certificate IV Health Services (Ambulance)

Up to 90% of our casual and seasonal lifeguards are trained to a minimum level of Certificate II Emergency First Responder with our supervisory lifeguards certified as Paramedics.

All Lifeguarding Services Australia lifeguards are trained to perform underwater search and recovery using a mask, snorkel and swim fins. Approximately 45% of our staff is scuba trained and scuba equipment is standard in all of our emergency vehicles.

In addition to these general diving skills a specially trained 10 member Dive Rescue Team is maintained to handle more complicated or arduous searches.
