A Surf Lifeguard is a person who will be regularly assigned to protect life and safety in the surf environment, throughout Australia this qualification varies. In NSW to work as a professional Surf Lifeguard the minimum qualification is Certificate III in Public Safety (Aquatic Search & Rescue), we utilise this high standard throughout Australia as our minimum qualification for Surf Lifeguards. 
 
Every Surf Lifeguard must have the ability to use a range of speciality rescue equipment ranging from an Inflatable Rescue Boat, Rescue Watercraft (Jet Ski) to a rescue board.
